MD Communications - About Mike de la Flor

Mike de la Flor (Houston, Texas) has worked as a medical illustrator for 17 years specializing in surgical illustration, medical-legal exhibits, editorial illustration, conceptual illustration, and computer animation. He is a published author having written three computer graphic books titled The Digital Biomedical Illustration Handbook, The Carrara 5 Pro Handbook, and The Carrara Studio 3 Handbook. Mike is also a contributing writer for 3DWorld, Computer Arts, MacFormat, MacWorld, and Computer Graphic World magazines . Mike has also worked as Adjunct Instructor at Kingwood College where he taught computer graphics.

Though Mike is a successful freelance medical illustrator, he has served as staff artist for the Department of Surgery at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, The Univeristy of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, and the department of Medical Illustration and Audio Visual Education at Baylor College of Medicine. He is a professional member of the Association of Medical Illustrators and has served on the board of directors of the Houston Society of Illustrators.

Mike has also worked as a professional web designer 8 years and has designed sites for the NASA Johnson Space Center and Baylor College of Medicine among many other clients.
